Wedge Fitting

I find it interesting that many golfers have their woods and irons custom fit then go buy big name wedges from a golf store.

In January 2008, the Professional Clubmakers Society held a wedge fitting course which was taught by Terry Koehler, the Wedge Guy. One of the exercises in the class was to go out and test 12 wedges from different manufacturers.  Every wedge from every major brand was fitted with a True Temper® Dynamic Gold® shaft marked “Wedge” flex.  On the frequency scale, all those shafts fell between 7.0 and 7.5, which is extra stiff!

In other words, they are so stiff, there’s no way they could offer any quality feel at all.

For the best in feel and performance your wedges should be custom fit with an appropriate shaft, the proper lie and lofts that are accurately set to ensure consistent yardages.
